Frequently Asked Questions General Does Mailboxes PDQ serve all of Atlanta? We try to stay within a 30 mile radius of Sandy Springs but exceptions are made. Sometimes a small trip charge can make the difference. It doesn't hurt to ask, so give us a call.
Does anyone have to be at home during an installation? No, but if the homeowner is home that's great. If not, a cell phone number is helpful just in case a question arises. Homeowners who will not be home usually leave a check somewhere outside the house.
Is water or electricity from the home necessary for an installation? No. We have water, a generator and everything else we need on our truck.
Post-Mounted Mailboxes Why do you set the post in concrete? Because cement will keep the post straight and firm in the ground for many years to come.
Does a pressure treated wood post have to be stained or painted? No, the post does not require any type of chemical treatment. If it is not stained or painted, it will age naturally and in time turn a grayish color.
Will the screws on the sides of the mailbox rust? No, we eliminate this problem by using stainless steel screws.
Anything else I need to know about wood posts? Each time a string on a weed whacker hits the post it removes a small piece of wood, so don't use a weed whacker on a wood post. The post will get whittled away and eventually get so weak it falls over. To avoid this plant flowers around the post or have us install a whacker guard when we are installing the post.
Replacement Doors Is there any other way to repair my mailbox? The replacement doors installed by Mailboxes PDQ are the only product on the market designed to solve the problem of broke and missing mailbox doors and they are the only type of mailbox door repair we do.
I mashed and mangled my mailbox but couldn't get it out. Now what? People underestimate how difficult it is to get one of these mailboxes out, but once it is mashed and mangled the only thing to do is to continue removing it. Fortunately, or should I say unfortunately, Mailboxes PDQ has experienced this before and can complete the task.
Can I purchase a replacement door and install it myself? Our replacement doors are not available in stores. Mailboxes PDQ is Atlanta's exclusive dealer in this product and we do not sell them to consumers because proper installation requires specialized tools and an experienced installer.
How long does it take to install a replacement door? A typical Installation by an experienced installer using specialized tools takes approximately one hour.
